About The Farm

Burundi Hafi comes from the remote hills of Muyinga Province in northeastern Burundi, where smallholder farmers cultivate coffee at high elevations among rugged, mountainous terrain. The region is particularly isolated, and before the Hafi washing station was established, farmers often traveled long distances over difficult roads to process their coffee. The name Hafi, meaning “near” or “close” in Kirundi, reflects the community’s desire for a processing facility closer to their farms. Today, around 2,000 smallholder farmers contribute coffee to the Hafi washing station.
